Soda is one of the most popular drinks today, especially with our kids, but adults as well like to drink it. It is often consumed in the family room while watching television or playing video games. And of course, soda is going to get spilled, at one time or another, onto your carpet.

When this happens, the first question usually is, “Who spilled soda on the carpet?” That’s a question that may never get answered. But the really important question is, “How am I going to get the soda stain cleaned out of the carpet?”. That question is a lot easier to get an answer for.

Soda Stain RemovalHow do you clean soda stains from carpet? The most important tip for soda stain removal, is to start cleaning it as soon after the spill as possible. Take some paper towels and keep dabbing the spot until the towels are no longer getting wet.

Then you can use any cleaning supply that cleans clothing or you can use a homemade carpet stain remover. Mix it with cold water and then dab it onto the soda spot using a wash cloth. Make sure you get the cleaning solution deep into the carpet and let it set for 15 minutes.

Now you need a freshly washed cloth and some clean, cold water. Put the wash cloth in the water and then ring it out. Gently dab the soda spot with the wash cloth. Keep ringing out the wash cloth and re-wetting it in the cold water. Keep doing this until the stain is gone.

If the stain is still visible, take a small amount of vinegar and mix it with a small amount of cold water. Then, using a wash cloth, dab the stain thoroughly and let it sit for about a half hour. Then take a wash cloth dipped in warm water and dab the stain. Keep dabbing until you get all of the vinegar and the stain cleaned up.

If this doesn’t work, club soda can be used in the same way as the vinegar. Of course a carpet steam cleaner applied early will also do an excellent job.
